2 pos­i­tions - Research Assist­ant (PhD can­did­ate) - salary grade E13 TV-L Ber­liner Hoch­schu­len

Closing date: August 2, 2019
Work­ing field: The selec­ted applic­ants will enter the PhD pro­gram at TU-Ber­lin, with the Inform­a­tion The­ory and Applications Chair of the Depart­ment of Elec­trical Engin­eer­ing and Com­puter Sci­ence. The main job duties con­sists of devel­op­ing innov­at­ive and inde­pend­ent research on a set of top­ics defined in agree­ment with their aca­demic advisor, Prof. Schaefer, and pos­sible co-advisors (to be defined), pos­sibly work­ing on research pro­jects with the Chair.
Require­ments: Suc­cess­fully com­pleted uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) in Elec­trical/Com­puter Engin­eer­ing, Com­puter Sci­ence, Math­em­at­ics, Phys­ics. Par­tic­u­lar emphasis will be given to can­did­ates with back­ground in at least one or more of the fol­low­ing areas: 
Inform­a­tion The­ory, Chan­nel Cod­ing The­ory, Net­work Cod­ing & Index Cod­ing, Video Cod­ing & Video Stream­ing, Con­tent Dis­tri­bu­tion Net­works, Web Cach­ing and Cach­ing Net­works, Stochastic Net­work Optim­iz­a­tion, Rout­ing and Schedul­ing, Dis­trib­uted/Coded Com­put­ing, Private Inform­a­tion Retrieval, Graph The­ory, Con­vex and Com­bin­at­or­ial Optim­iz­a­tion, Stochastic Geo­metry, Com­munity Detec­tion in Social Net­works, Machine Learn­ing, Sparse Sig­nal Recon­struc­tion and Mat­rix Com­ple­tion, Asymp­totic Ran­dom Mat­rix The­ory, Stat­ist­ical Phys­ics of Large Ran­dom Sys­tems (e.g., Ising mod­els, spin-glasses, k-sat prob­lems). 
Good Eng­lish lan­guage skills are desired.
